In a display of dominance, Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix defeated Candice Michelle with a Glam Slam to retain her gold. Ever since The Glamazon captured the title from Mickie James at SummerSlam, she has dominated both her opponents and the opponents of her boyfriend, Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella.
Tonight, Marella intervened, preventing a potential pinfall. But, he paid for it with a hard-hitting kick from Candice. Although Marella’s help allowed Phoenix to escape the near pinfall, it proved to be a distraction to The Glamazon. But, not for long. As the match continued, The Glamazon mounted an offense that Candice could not stop.

Going all-out with “The Glamazon”
WWE Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix discuses her rise to the top and gives her thoughts on the next wave of WWE Divas.
by Avi Burk
US, November 5, 2008 - Beth Phoenix made her WWE debut in 2006 and quickly emerged as one of the most captivating WWE Divas on the roster, diving right into a feud between two of the company’s top female talents, Trish Stratus and Mickie James. Phoenix appeared to be on the fast-track to the top of the Divas roster, but a devastating, in-ring injury suffered during a match with Victoria forced the dominant Diva to apply the brakes.
Phoenix returned to the WWE roster in July of 2007 and wasted little time making her presence known, winning the Interpromotional Divas Battle Royal at Summer Slam to become the No. 1 contender to face Candice Michelle for the Women’s Championship. Although Candice Michelle was able to successfully defend her title against Phoenix at Unforgiven, “The Glamazon” broke through and defeated Candice Michelle at No Mercy to claim her first WWE Women’s Championship.
After a five-month reign as the WWE Women’s Champion, Phoenix finally lost the title to Mickie James. However, Phoenix wasn’t without the belt for long, as she and her tag team partner Santino Marella defeated James and her partner, then Intercontinental Champion, Kofi Kingston in a Winner Takes All match at SummerSlam.
IGN caught up with “The Glamazon” at last week’s Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 event held at Florida Championship Wrestling’s developmental facility in Tampa, and Phoenix shared her thoughts on what it takes to ascend to the top of the wrestling industry, what it means to her to be included in a wrestling videogame for the first time, and how her experience coming up through the ranks compares to the training FCW is providing to the next wave of WWE Divas.

In the ring with WWE diva Beth Phoenix
Live wrestling and the wrestling you see on television aren’t quite the same thing, WWE RAW diva Beth Phoenix said.

Live wrestling and the wrestling you see on television aren’t quite the same thing, WWE RAW diva Beth Phoenix said.
“It’s a completely different animal,” she promised. “You get the drama, like you see on TV, but it’s very interactive. Anything can happen.”
Phoenix, also known as “The Glamazon,” was in Charleston on Friday to promote World Wrestling Entertainment RAW’s Summer Slam, tonight at the Charleston Civic Center. A legion of WWE wrestlers will battle it out in the ring. Phoenix takes on Mickie James in an effort to regain her championship title.
At 5-foot-7, with undeniably powerful-looking shoulders and arms, it’s hard to imagine the championship isn’t hers for the taking. Of course, that’s all part of the show.
I was browsing Youtube.com and found a couple of video’s of Beth from the last couple of weeks Raw Tour, one is from the autograph signing in Germany, and the other is from the Houseshow in Sheffield. Below are the videos.
