WWE One Night Stand Preview & Poll
Posted On: Jun 1st, 2008 Posted by: Rebecca Comments: (5) Category: PPV Previews, Polls

I thought it time we had a little Poll & Preview for tonights PPV, this may be something i will decide to do more often depending on the response, feel free to discuss the PPV and the Poll in the comments :).

Tonight WWE hosts their annual One Night Stand Pay Per View, where every match is extreme~!. Beth Phoenix & Melina will do battle in this match in the first ever Women’s I Quit match. Beth & Melina both became friendly ever since Beth’s re-debut in WWE when Beth substituted for Melina (who was “injured”) in a tag match. They tagged together many times on WWE Raw, but they alliance was brought to the forefront of the storylines when they teamed together against Ashley & Maria at Wrestlemania in the Bunnymania match. Proving they could work together as a unit, they dismantled Maria & Ashley & went on to win the match.

Things soon started to fall apart for the duo after this, Beth soon lost her prized championship to Mickie James on Raw, which set up a huge 12 woman tag match at Backlash, Team Glamazon won the match, but lost the re-match the next night. The following week, Beth had a chance to regain her belt in a Lumber Jill match. Melina, wanting to help Beth, tries to hit Mickie with her boot, but misses and hits Beth, allowing Mickie to retain, obviously upsetting the Glamazon.

The following week a tag match was made, Melina & Beth vs. Mickie & Maria. At one point, Melina accidentally knocked Beth off the apron, causing Beth to get angry and walk away from the match. Later Beth explained that Melina cost her the belt the previous week, and how she knows that it is easier to beat Mickie than herself. Melina, tried showing Beth her fire, hitting her with forearms, only for Beth to grab her and slam her into the nearby lockers, and having to be restrained by referees.

At Judgment Day, their feud escalated, when Beth told Melina she didn’t belong in “her ring”. Melina took the fall in the match after Beth was on the outside recovering from her massive feat of strength holding both Mickie & Melina on her shoulders, and Melina’s subsequent neckbreaker. The following week, Beth defeated Maria with ease, debuting a new submission finisher, The Glam Slam. Following the match, Melina jumped Beth hitting her with her boot, but Beth over-powered her throwing her down to the hard metal ramp. The following week, before Melina defeated her friend Jillian (who said Melina has “No Chance” against Beth Phoenix) an I Quit match was announced between the two.

Both these ladies have suitable maneuvers to make the other scream I Quit, Beth has the brute force to keep Melina down, while Melina has the speed to be able to get round The Glamazon’s feats of strength. Who do you think will prevail at One Night Stand?

Little bit of Trivia

  • Did you know the last time there was a women’s singles match at a PPV that didn’t have the Women’s championship on the line was Judgment Day 2006? Jillian Hall was victorious over Melina.
  • Beth Phoenix is making her One Night Stand PPV debut
  • Melina is 0-1 at One Night Stand, having lost to Candice Michelle, in the travesty of a match last year. Aren’t we all glad that there no pudding to be seen on this show?

Who Will Win at WWE One Night Stand?

  • Beth Phoenix (56%, 25 Votes)
  • Melina (44%, 20 Votes)

Total Voters: 45

Preview: Melina vs. Beth Phoenix (”I Quit” Match)
June 1, 2008

Though Beth Phoenix and Melina were once allies, things have taken a wrong turn in the pair’s relationship. Both women have felt betrayed by the other’s actions, and plan on settling things this Sunday night at One Night Stand. It won’t be as simple as one woman pinning the other however, as this is an “I Quit” Match, in which one Diva must force the other to speak those dreaded words into a microphone in front of a pay-per-view audience.

The two’s rivalry began about a month ago, when Melina caused Beth Phoenix to lose her Women’s Championship match against Mickie James by accidentally hitting Phoenix with her boot. Unfortunately for Melina, The Glamazon isn’t known for her forgiving nature, but rather her raw power and ferocity. To no one’s surprise, the following weeks saw Beth retaliating against Melina, smashing her repeatedly into a set of steel lockers, and brutalizing her after a match with Jillian.

Both women are known for their in-ring ability, but it’s their pride that will come into play this weekend at One Night Stand. Beth Phoenix has been one of the most dominant Divas in WWE history, can Melina force her to say “I Quit”? When it could irreparably damage not only their ego, but also their career, which of these Divas will be the first to concede?

To see this and more Extreme Rules match-ups, be sure to tune into One Night Stand, airing this Sunday at 8/7 CT, live on pay-per-view!

Preview: Women’s Champion Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (Triple Threat)
May 12, 2008

As first learned in a Joey Styles Exclusive video on WWE.com, Women’s Champion Mickie James will defend her title against both Beth Phoenix and Melina in a Triple Threat Match at Judgment Day.

Melina and The Glamazon have been after Mickie’s title since she earned it when she pinned Beth on Raw. Neither one has found a way to stop the Women’s Champion, though. In fact, their common desire to hold the Divas’ top prize has caused a lack of success on their part.

One week prior to the night the match was made, Melina allegedly accidentally hit Beth with a boot. Tensions between the two Divas only escalated afterward, as The Glamazon abandoned Melina when they teamed up to take on Mickie & Maria on Raw. The ensuing confrontation in the locker room led to an all-out brawl that required three people to break it up.

Beth and Melina have not been able to work together toward a common goal, to date. It’s clear that it will be every Diva for herself when Mickie aims to continue her recent run of success and retain her gold at Judgment Day.

12 Diva Tag Match At Backlash

12-Diva Tag Team Match
April 22, 2008

At Backlash, the WWE Diva divide comes to a head as new Women’s Champion Mickie James captains a team of the Sexiest Women on Television against former titleholder Beth Phoenix and her squad of sultry competitors.

Just more than one week ago, Mickie scored one of the biggest victories of her career against The Glamazon, ending Phoenix’s lengthy reign as Women’s Champion. But before she could celebrate, Mickie found herself confronted by the former champion, who argued that the loss was nothing more than a fluke, a slap in the face to The Glamazon. Then, in front of a ring full of Divas, SmackDown’s Michelle McCool used an open palm to show Beth the true meaning of such a slap.

The ensuing all-out melee ultimately ended with the fan favorite femme fatales standing together, united against the oppressively dominant Glamazon and her group of WWE’s more nefarious women. Now, this collision will continue inside the ring in a much more official capacity on Sunday at Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena.

Which team will prevail as Mickie, Maria, Ashley, Michelle, Cherry & Kelly Kelly face The Glamazon, Melina, Jillian, Layla, Victoria & Natalya? Tune in this Sunday on pay-per-view to catch the spicy Diva action at Backlash.

Preview: ‘Playboy’ BunnyMania Lumberjack Match - Ashley & Maria vs. The Glamazon & Melina
March 30, 2008

Maria’s posing in Playboy Magazine has stirred jealousy in the Divas locker room. Some, like Women’s Champion, The Glamazon Beth Phoenix, and Melina, resent the attention Maria has attracted.

They believe that they – not “one-dimensional eye candy” like Maria – deserve the spotlight. They hate the fact that Ashley, who has taken the place of former Women’s Champion and fellow Playboy cover girl Candice Michelle, was one of the women who paved the way for Divas like Maria to get an opportunity in Playboy. So, these four beautiful women will have a point to prove to one other and the world when they square off at in the first-ever Playboy BunnyMania Lumberjack Match at WrestleMania XXIV. WWE Divas will surround the ring while the four ladies battle inside the squared circle. But there will be a very special guest at BunnyMania - Snoop Dogg will make a special appearance and will be the Master of Ceremonies at the BunnyMania Lumberjack Match.

Proving They Have Style and Substance
BunnyMania was going to be personal for Candice. Last year, Beth Phoenix took her Women’s Title and then put her out of action with a broken clavicle. Less than two weeks before WrestleMania, Candice broke it in the same place and was forced to undergo surgery. More on this story …

Ashley stands for everything The Glamazon and her tag team partner can’t stand. Her looks landed her on the cover of Playboy last year. Still, she packs with her the skills to hold her own in the ring and WrestleMania is her opportunity to show them off.

Maria also wants to prove that she is much more than a pretty face. Playboy has opened her eyes and given her more exposure than perhaps she ever dreamed. Maria has worked hard at becoming a force in WWE inside and outside the ring. Playboy’s new cover girl is ready and willing to show Beth Phoenix and Melina that she has many tricks up her sleeve.

Not Just A Couple of Pretty Faces
The Glamazon & Melina, meanwhile, want to batter Maria & Candice’s pretty faces. These two Divas believe Ashley and Maria had their fame and prestige handed to them. Melina and Beth came up, as they would tell you, “the hard way” and spent years honing their craft. They don’t – and have never needed – Playboy.

Beth Phoenix especially wants to prove a point at WrestleMania XXIV, her first appearance on The Grandest Stage of Them All. She believes she is the “uber-Diva” – the epitome of beauty, grace and skill. To Beth, Ashley and Maria are pretenders to her throne, and she wants to vanquish both of them at the “uber-event” in sports-entertainment.

The fur is bound to fly when The Glamazon & Melina battle Ashley & Maria in Playboy BunnyMania at WrestleMania. The only way to catch it is live on pay-per-view from Orlando, Fla., on March 30.

Reader Nate sent word that Kim Kardashian was on MTV’s TRL on Monday and said that she will be appearing at WrestleMania XXIV during the BunnyMania lumberjack match along with Snoop Dogg.

I say “Celebrity” because i hardly see her as a celebrity, i didn’t even know who she was, had to google her to find out LOL. I hate people who are famous just for being Famous.

Proving They Have Style and Substance
BunnyMania will be personal for Candice. Last year, Beth Phoenix took her Women’s Title and then put her out of action with a broken collar bone.

Candice wants to extract a beating on The Glamazon and give her a black and blue receipt for putting her on the disabled list. For years, GoDaddy.com’s leading lady has battled criticism that she is just eye candy and showed our fans that she was champion within the squared circle by winning the Women’s Title from Melina. She also wants to start her road back to the Women’s Championship with a strong showing against The Glamazon.

Maria also wants to prove that she is much more than a pretty face. Playboy has opened her eyes and given her more exposure than perhaps she ever dreamed. Maria has worked hard at becoming a force in WWE inside and outside the ring. She has become a close friend of Candice – the two have a lot in common. Playboy’s new cover girl is ready and willing to show Beth Phoenix and Melina that she has many tricks up her sleeve.

Preview: Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix (Women’s Championship)
By Greg Adkins
December 16, 2007

Mickie James has been on the roll of her career lately, and she hopes to use that momentum to overcome a rather sizable speed bump known as Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix.

The Glamazon enters the Women’s Championship Match having intimidated nearly every Diva on the roster by flaunting her unique size and strength advantage. But for her part, Mickie, a former Women’s Champion, continues to ride a wave of momentum that has carried her through to the title opportunity with a win recently against Melina on Raw.

Having tasted championship gold three times before, Mickie could certainly draw on her experience as a former Women’s Champion to formulate a plan of attack that will emphasize her many strengths. She may need to rely heavily on the stamina and quickness that she’s showcased the past several weeks to notch an upset over the Glamazon.

It must be said, however, that the Glamazon will not go gently. The self-described “perfect combination of strength and beauty” has leveled anyone who has dared challenge her rule. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, however, the fact remains that Phoenix is indeed vulnerable. One need only look to her match at Unforgiven against Candice Michelle to recall how the former Women’s Champion surprised Phoenix with a crucifix roll-up to earn the three-count.

The question remains, can Mickie keep her winning streak alive even against the force of Phoenix? Or will the Glamazon lay yet another Diva to waste?

Be sure to catch Armageddon, live on pay-per-view, on Sunday Dec. 16 at 8/7 CT to find out.

The Glamazon to captain team in survivor series match

Preview: 10 Divas Tag Team Match
November 18, 2007

Practically no Diva in WWE can compare to the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. The Women’s Champion says she is the epitome of beauty, class and athleticism and has proven it since she burst on the scene earlier this year. She settles for nothing less than perfection and will expect nothing less from her team when she leads Jillian Hall, Melina, Victoria & Layla into an interpromotional 10 Divas Tag Team Match against Mickie James, Maria, Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly at Survivor Series.

The Glamazon is not known to work well with others - she doesn’t need to - but she has one thing in common with her fellow Divas from Raw, SmackDown, and ECW: They all have a chip on their beautiful shoulders.

Nevertheless, there will be some personal issues that may highlight this interpromotional match involving the Divas from Raw, SmackDown, and ECW. Kelly Kelly wants to lay her claws into her former Extreme Exposé teammate Layla, who, along with The Miz, has made her life a living hell in ECW. Michelle McCool and Victoria have been at each other’s throats for months on SmackDown.

The Divas will add some sugar and spice, and everything nice at Survivor Series. Don’t miss what happens at Survivor Series this Sunday, Nov. 18, only on pay-per-view at 8/7 CT.
