Last PPV Appearance
Name: WWE One Night Stand Date: June 1st, 2008 Match: Beth Phoenix def. Melina (I Quit Match)
Before an electrifying capacity crowd at One Night Stand, The Glamazon Beth Phoenix beat Melina, making her utter two of the most demoralizing words a Superstar can say in the squared circle: “I quit.”
It was the first time in WWE history that Divas competed in an “I Quit” Match, a contest that is decided when one of the Superstars makes her opponent say “I quit”. Both Divas knew full well that such a hard fought contest could only be won by the woman who wanted it more.

A Huge thanks to my friend Rob who sent along a link to some new HQ photos of Beth’s first action figure, a two pack with Maria that is set to be released this month. These gives a better look at Beth’s figure. Thanks again Rob!
In other Action figure news, as I told you a while ago, Beth has a second action figure in the works from the Ruthless aggression series. After browsing around the net, I’ve been able to determine the figure will be released in either September or November of this year, I don’t have a concrete date yet, but it will be out before the end of the year.
As i told you yesterday, WWE announced their summer skin photoshoot will be released staggered over the two months of summer before ending September 1st. So how long is the wait? According to the Summer Skin page, Beth’s will be released Tuesday August 12th 2008. To remind you when Beth’s Summer Skin will be released, i have made a countdown timer to her Summer Skin release date, that you can see in the sidebar to the left.
WWE.com has posted a post match video with Mickie James & Joey Styles. In it, Styles mentions to Mickie that waiting for her on Raw is former WWE Women’s champion The Glamazon Beth Phoenix. Which one could only presume means that Beth will take on Mickie on tonights edition of Raw.
The USA Network website has updated Beth’s Biography page on their website with six brand new photos, including two new digital photos from Beth’s match with Mickie James at WWE Armageddon last December.
Beth has not moved in the supplemental draft, meaning she will be staying on Raw. The only diva moves were Maria, who moves to Smackdown, and Layla who moves to Raw.
Only two days after a handful of career-altering shake-ups occurred in the world of sports-entertainment, the 2008 WWE Supplemental Draft will take place right here, Wednesday at noon ET, exclusively on WWE.com.
During the WWE Draft on Raw Monday night, WWE Champion Triple H, ECW Champion Kane and nine other Superstars were randomly selected from their home brands and forced to change loyalties. How many more will experience the same fate this Wednesday?
During last year’s WWE Supplemental Draft, 15 Superstars and Divas found themselves on new brands, including former WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick. Will this year’s WWE Supplemental Draft bring forth similar, or even greater, changes? Could more champions find themselves in new territories? Find out right here, Wednesday at noon ET, on WWE.com.
A fan little tidbit of news for you all. It seems that everyone has fallen for the Glamazon, including the rich and famous! WWE.com’s new Fan Nation networking site has a celebrity blogger in the form of Freddie Prinze JR. who is keen to let us know he is a huge fan of The Glamazon. What Would Sarah Michelle Gellar think? (We think Beth could take Buffy any day -_^). Check Out Freddie’s WWE Fan Nation page Here.
WWE has recently created a WWE Fan Nation page called Summer Skin, where it has been revealed that the Divas have recently done a new Photoshoot in San Diego, CA, also letting us know that they will launch a Summer Skin sub site of WWE.com on July 4th. Below is the information that has been released.
On July 4, WWE.com will be launching Summer Skin, a site that features beautiful, brand new photos of each Diva, posing in swimwear on the beach and at other sights in San Diego. In addition to a great deal of photos spread out in multiple photo galleries, each girl’s Summer Skin page will contain an in-depth story on that individual Diva, letting our fans get to know the Divas and see a side of them they’ve never seen before. Also, Summer Skin will feature plenty of video packages, including interviews with the Divas, highlights from their photo shoots, and a review of the Summer Skin experience. Also included in Summer Skin will be an auction page with items from the shoot and a mobile page offering downloads.
Beth in multiple Royal Rumbles? WWE Magazine thinks so!
Will the Glamazon ever make an appearance in the WWE’s Royal Rumble? Could she beat Chyna’s appearance record and appear in the Royal Rumble TWICE? WWE Magazine seems to think so. In the June 2008 edition of WWE magazine, they pose the question whether any woman could beat Chyna’s record of Royal rumble appearances by a woman. They say, “Honestly, If Chyna could do it once, the Glamazon could do it twice.”
Paul Heyman has posted a new column on TheSun.co.uk where he talks about wrestlings most under-utilized talents. He talks about Beth as one of them. Below is what he had to say.
By PAUL HEYMAN
Published: Today
YOU see them all the time. Wrestlers that should be much bigger superstars than they are. Held back by politics, stupidity, lack of writers’ understanding and sometimes even their own devices and demons.
They’re called “underutilized talents,” but every now and then the miracle occurs and you see someone bust through the parameters under which he or she works.
I’ve seen it happen, up close and personal. With Steve Austin, the time he was released by WCW and was given the forum to express himself in the original ECW. With Mick Foley, when he agreed to turn heel on the fans and cut some of the most memorable promos of this or any other generation. And even with Brian Pillman, when he stopped settling for upper mid card and wanted to be the talk of the industry.
These are, in my opinion, the Top 5 most underutilized talents in pro wrestling today.
Let the debate begin!
NUMBER 4 - BETH PHOENIX
It doesn’t matter that she’s already been WWE women’s champion, the audience hasn’t even had a taste of what this phenomenal athlete is capable of.
I think Beth’s ring skills are deteriorating because she’s not being allowed to work up to her potential. WWE should bring in opponents for Beth to squash every week.
There are plenty of women wrestlers in the Shimmer group, the West Coast indies, even in Mexico to feed to Beth.
Then, in due time, when someone finally steps up to her, the audience would be craving to pay to see WWE’s heel version of Gina Carano get chopped down to size.
The WWE’s women’s division lacks a long term vision, and Beth has been rushed into programs that just fill the female-segment on Raw, reminding one of the old adage about “leaving a lot of money on the table”.
