OVW WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH: CH. KATIE LEA vs. SERENA

Serena no doubt felt that her loss to Katie for the Title last week on OVW Television was due to Beth Phoenix’s interference, while Katie obviously wanted to prove that she deserved the Title, with or without Phoenix’s help.

With both in the ring, the mixture was pretty volatile, with Serena trying to go for a couple of quick pins and Katie muscling out and using cunning to try to sidestep Serena at the beginning of the match.

Serena kept on the pressure, throwing Katie around the ring via hiptosses and a monkey-flip in a corner. Katie tried to pull one over on Serena by ducking out of the way and hoping Serena would get caught up in the ropes when she went for a spear, but Serena had been-here/done-that a bit too often to be so easily fooled.

Holding on to the ropes, Serena slammed a shoulder into Katie’s stomach as Lea came over to attack. Serena moved in for the kill on the bent-over champ, but it appeared to be just a ruse so that Katie could roll up Serena for a two count. A backslide got Katie another two-count, which she followed by whipping Serena to a corner.

Serena, however, used the momentum to jump up on the ropes and dive back into a splash, yet missed when Katie dove for cover in the same corner.

With Serena in pain from the missed splash, Katie put the boot in a couple of times and then went for a sitting abdominal stretch on Serena.
Slowly, Serena pulled herself up and managed to toss Katie a few feet away and then followed up with some punches and a knee to the face. A splash off the second rope got Serena a near-pin that looked to be rounding the corner to a win, when all of a sudden Beth Phoenix ran into the ring and began beating on Serena!

Not happy with Phoenix spoiling her match, Katie yanked Phoenix off of Serena and demanded to know what she was doing. Beth merely shoved her away and then ran out of the ring when Katie began to approach her with more on her mind than talking!
