OVW WOMEN’S TITLE THREE-WAY DANCE MATCH: CH. BETH PHOENIX vs. ODB vs. KATIE LEA

ODB, the originator of the OVW Women’s Title, came to the ring angry and determined to get the title back. She was followed by Katie Lea, a fairly recent newcomer to OVW that had to deal with getting caught between Serena, ODB and Beth Phoenix for the title these past few weeks. Finally, the champ, Beth Phoenix, who won the title against Serena the previous week with the help of slamming the Title into Serena’s head when the ref was unable to see the event, arrived at the ring with the Title in her arms. As fans know, a three-way dance means that all three participants in the ring go at it until someone is victorious (and the Champion doesn’t have to be pinned to lose their Title!).

Beth dared the other two to come at her, and swerved out of their way when they attempted exactly that. Trying to outmaneuver them again, Phoenix got caught between the two and slammed to the mat, hard on her head. Katie and ODB ganged up on Phoenix with a series of moves (one rarely sees the bra strap snap being used in a match!)… but ODB soon turned on Lea with a couple of elbows to the back when Katie tried to roll Phoenix over for a pin. Phoenix stomped ODB in the head to stop a pin on Lea, for which ODB kneed her in the stomach and slammed her head into a turnbuckle. The three went back and forth for a time, with someone always stopping the other from getting a pin against the third. ODB threw Lea back for a slam, only to find Phoenix on top of Lea for a pin and having to stop the pin by slamming into Phoenix.

In a corner, ODB slammed Phoenix’s head into the turnbuckle several times before dropping her weight on Phoenix for a facebuster. A pin by ODB was stopped by Lea, who continued an assault on ODB while Phoenix rolled away. ODB got a bearhug on Lea and a clothesline, yet then again saw her pin being taken away by Phoenix. ODB stopped the pin, leading to Phoenix chopping at ODB and ODB retaliating with a neckbreaker. Lea stopped ODB’s pin attempt on Phoenix, which ODB didn’t care for; throwing Lea upside-down in a corner and stomping her stomach several times. Phoenix ran to the corner to attack ODB, but ODB was ready and clipped Phoenix’s legs out from under her, forcing her to collide with Katie in the corner. ODB paraded around the ring after looking at the results, leading her to not be paying attention when Lea ran over and put her in a sleeper. A dazed Phoenix saw Katie and ODB and put a sleeper on Katie as well! Amazingly, ODB was able to back the other two up into a corner and knock the sleepers loose.

ODB grabbed one of Phoenix’s legs as if to set up a Figure-Four, but then found Katie Lea grabbing Beth’s other leg. Together, the two tumbled forward, sending Phoenix over, up and down to the mat for a slam! Phoenix rolled out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair as Lea clotheslined ODB a few times in the ring. Lea saw Phoenix approaching with the chair and kicked her away from the ring before going back to ODB and hitting her with a backbreaker. ODB managed to get to a corner and began ramming Lea’s head into the turnbuckle when Phoenix ran back into the ring and elbowed ODB. Lea tossed Beth out and away and then began chopping at ODB’s chest while the two struggled on the top rope. In that position, Phoenix approached from below and threw the other two girls into a combo powerbomb/vertical suplex!

Phoenix elbowed Lea a couple of times after failing at a pin and began a run at her when Lea moved out of the way, sending Phoenix into a steel post and out of the ring! As Lea struggled to pin ODB, Lea moved back to the ropes and found herself caught by the leg by Phoenix on the outside. Lea, fed-up, reached for the steel chair that had been slid into the ring earlier by Phoenix in order to use it against Beth. Ramsey grabbed the chair and took it away, which gave Phoenix enough time to slam the Title into Lea’s head! Phoenix went in for the pin on Lea, but it was stopped by ODB. ODB attempted to set up a powerbomb on Phoenix, yet soon found herself on Beth’s shoulders for her Down in Flames.

Before that could happen, however, former champ Serena ran into the ring and speared Beth, sending ODB out of the ring and Beth down for the count. As Ramsey called the match due to Serena’s attack, Serena climbed out of the ring and looked at the Title before tossing it into the ring. Beth clutched at the Title with all her might as OVW Television came to a dramatic close for the week!
