OVW Results & Captures (9/2) Posted On: Sep 3rd, 2006 Posted by: Rebecca Comments: Category: TV Results [screen captures][digitals] WOMEN’S TAG TEAM MATCH: KATIE LEA & ODB vs. SERENA & WWE’s BETH PHOENIX This week’s OVW Television kicked off with the match to see if Serena would get her chance to take the Women’s Championship - according to ODB - “defended around the world” from ODB. While we cannot be sure if ODB’s title really has been overseas like she claims, we certainly can state that her teammate for the tag-team match has been. OVW Television newcomer, Katie Lea, has made a good name for herself in the UK before arriving to join OVW and there has already been some strong talk about her ability in the ring. Serena came out soon afterwards on her own; giving ODB an opportunity to gloat about no one coming out with her. ODB’s attitude changed, however, when Serena’s partner came out: WWE and former OVW Superstar Beth Phoenix! ODB decided to take the position of forewarned is forearmed; or, rather, she took the position of shoving Katie in front of her and backing away as Serena entered the ring. Unknowing to ODB, Beth Phoenix had entered the ring behind ODB and simply waited for ODB to back into her. Ironically, since she wasn’t forewarned of Phoenix, ODB ended up “forearmed” when she ate a clothesline from Serena after Katie ducked out of the way. With Phoenix immediately clotheslining Katie, Serena and Beth proceeded to beat down on their opponents until Katie forced Beth out of the ring with a boot to her face while on the apron. ODB, pleading with Serena in a corner, was happy to allow Katie to take over the match when she elbowed Serena in the back… and then hit her with a backbreaker for a two-count. Seeing Serena in trouble, ODB was glad to take over. Serena made it to her corner, but with Phoenix still recovering from the boot by Katie down on the floor, Serena was unable to make a tag and was soon dragged back to ODB’s corner by ODB. Lea tagged in for a couple of elbow-drops along with a couple of knees to Serena’s back before tagging ODB back in for a roll-up in the corner with ODB’s hands on the ropes. Right before the ref could complete the 1-2-3, however, Beth ran into the ring and knocked ODB off of Serena. Katie came into the ring to deal with Beth, which only got Phoenix’s adrenaline going! Beth took on both ODB and Katie before hitting the Down in Flames, first on Katie… and then on ODB! Beth rolled-up ODB for the win, but the ref reminded her that she had not been tagged in. Seeing her chance, Serena speared ODB hard and pinned her for the win; giving her the chance to now face ODB one-on-one in the ring for the Women’s Title! As the ref was raising Serena’s hand in victory, an obviously upset Beth Phoenix entered the ring. Phoenix felt that she pretty much won the match for the two of them and she should be the one to get the shot at the title. As Serena tried to explain the situation, Beth stomped off, unhappy to see Serena get the chance thanks to her own hard work.
